Why? There is really no reason to think that all the Predator/Alien movies aren't in one universe. It's just a matter of people having their own personal canon. To try and say that one film or another didn't happen, is just people's own personal preference.
The studio obviously looks at them as one big franchise, so so do I. Even if I feel that one film or the other may have sucked.

Because the Predator series is like some cheesy 80's action fantasy land where even the Adrien Brodys and Danny Glovers are cheesy 80's action movie badasses.
Alien exists as close to our world as 8 foot tall acid bleeding space rapists will allow. It's like chocolate and Fillet Mignon, both great, just don't mix at the same time.
