"Posted at AvP Outbreak on 07.11.2005 at 16:59:37 Alien"s status in popular culture is pretty widespread, with just about every medium paying tribute to the series. I"ve noticed it particularly on television, and I"m sure I"m not the only one -- hence the creation of this thread to archive such references. I"ll begin with the first few that come to mind: - I saw an episode of "The Simpsons" the other day which included a bank robbery scene featuring pulse rifle-toting criminals (they were described as being "armed with state-of-the-art firepower"
). - Though fairly young at the time, I remember an Alien briefly making an appearance in an episode of "Animaniacs" for a sight gag involving an inner jaw within an inner jaw within an inner jaw (if anyone else remembers this episode, feel free to expand on it).
- Around the time Alien: Resurrection was released, "Mad TV" ran a claymation parody of Alien set during the crucifixation of Jesus Christ (hence the "resurrection" theme). I have yet to be able to find it for download :"( .
- Haven"t seen this, but I"ve read about a 1986 "Saturday Night Live" sketch featuring Sigourney Weaver titled "Alienses". If anyone has seen it, I would greatly appreciate a detailed summary!
- Haven"t seen this one either, but allegedly "Mad TV" ran some sort of Alien vs. Predator parody around the time of the film"s August 2004 release. Again, if anyone caught it, I"d love to hear a review!
I"m sure there are tons more, and many of you have probably been watching TV for much longer than I have (and during the height of Alien"s popularity), so post any and all you can think of, even if it may seem somewhat vague. "

"Posted at AvP Outbreak on 07.11.2005 at 17:39:56 * A long time ago, I saw an episode of The Warner Brothers (or something like that) in which the main characters were on a spaceship. At one point, the girl came across an Alien. She produced some kind of red genie which also had a set of inner-jaws (with a smaller version of its head on them). The two ended up falling in love . * A Johnny Bravo episode ended up with Johnny tied up in a spaceship somewhere, with an Alien egg opening in front of him. Once Facehugger legs started coming out, Johnny said: """Nice puppy. Nice puppy!"" * Frieza"s third oMalley"

- Once on Mad About You someone asked Paul if he ever saw Aliens and he quickly jumped in to say he only ever saw the first one. - The Daily Show had a news item once about the Raelien cult and their desire to indulge in human cloning. The graphic behind John Stewart was a parody of the Res logo and was titled "Raelian Resurrection".

What about Spaceballs? Not TV, but... There is a scene that parodies the chest-bursting scene in Alien. The Alien pops out, puts on a top hat grabs a cane, dances and sings. "

This week"s American Dad had Stan deliver the line "Cover your mouth, that"s how they get inside you and lay their eggs". Ok, he was talking about Saudi Arabians, but knowing Seth MacFarlane"s work it"s got to be an Alien ref. Family Guy had the Kramer vs. Predator sketch too. EDIT: I"m fairly sure Red Dwarf also referenced Alien - I think is was the episode "Polymorph", which I think was from the third series. Will check soon... "

Red Dwarf drew lots of inspiration from the Alien flicks but the only direct reference is from the show where Kryten"s penis escaped and was rummaging around under Cat"s shirt like a chestburster was trying to get out.

Not really TV, but Shrek 2 had a clear reference to the chestburster scene. -Rusty Nails "

| This was a long time ago so I might be wrong or forgot on some details. It was awsome ! They were redoing the ""medic lab under attack"" scene. You had Weaver and other random actors playing Vasquez Hudson and Hicks Gorman and Burke I think.. They were doing the ""oh my god they cut the power off ! "" then the lights got red and Hudson was mad and was always finishing saying "" we are all gonna die MAN !"" then you saw Sig going "" There is only one way to settle this... I wil get naked ! "" she begins to undress and one of the guys calm her down. Then the doors are begining to to fall apart due to the ""aliens"" ramming in it. They lose it and shoot everywhere. Lot of smoke and all. Then they go see what they killed and... ... ... they killed E.T. !! Then they discuss on how they will hide the body or something like that. Was very funny, Like I said this was a long time ago so I might be wrong on some details. But I could remember most of it. A must see ! I will try to look out for a clip of it. "

On News Radio there was a scene where Andy Dick fell from the ceiling and there were multiples of him as red lights flashed in the room. He proceded to imitate the Aliens in the medlab scene. There was another episode where the buidling was a spaceship and there were some Aliens quotes in it.

A 2004 advert for Nik Naks - a generally unpleasant savoury snack - recreated Kane"s last supper on board a cross channel ferry. A 2004 advert for Wrigley"s Airwaves - an industrial strength chewing gum - featured an attractive young jumpsuited woman in the Ripley mold being chased through the corridors of a starship by something under the floor. Very obviously Alien. French and Saunders pastiched Aliens about ten years ago. All I can remember is Jennifer Saunders getting lost in lots of darkly lit corridors. There might"ve been some jokes in there somewhere. An episode of Eastenders - cockney soap opera - this year featured a scene where Gary (annoying useless cockney) has a power cut whilst watching an unspecified horror movie. There is the sound of dripping water as Gary nervously paces the corridors of his home, all the while pitifully whispering "here, kitty kitty kitty" in a bizarre and unexpected recreation of Brett"s final moments. Another recreation of this scene happened in 1983"s Dr Who: Resurrection of the Daleks where a mutant Khaled - the nasty spiteful superior organism inside the Dalek casing - escapes into a deserted warehouse in the East End. The Doctor and some military type guys start poking around for it with sharp sticks in dark corners. Suddenly, the Doctor sees movement under a tarp. Cautiously edging closer he pulls back the tarp to reveal a ginger tom cat not too dissimilar to Jonesy! Funnily enough this was one of the few Doctor Who stories that I remember being scared by, and I note I must have seen this episode roughly a year before Alien. Erm... weird one: about 5 years ago I turned on the TV on a Sunday at 12:30pm, a time usually reserved for religous broadcast, to find this bizarre comedy programme (This Morning with Richard not Judy) where the punchline to at least three jokes was "You"ve killed God!" Anyway, one of the show"s regular characters, the CUrious Orange, had been replaced this week by the Alien. This wasn"t a full grown one, but more of a beefy chestburster. Now the Curious Orange"s job was - I think - to answer the audience"s philosophical questions, except now the Alien was doing the answering. And every answer it gave was an absolutely hateful hissssss! One of the funniest things I"ve ever seen, I swear. Anyway, at the end the Curious Orange and the Alien have a Godzilla-type fight (complete with acid blood, if memory serves me), during which the Alien is killed and the Orange gives a victorious roar. You couldn"t make it up, could you? "

Episode of Ed, Edd, and Eddie. One of them (the big dumb one) barfs on his friends and glues them to the walls in his room (hive) Here"s an old one. Parker Lewis Can"t Lose. Kubiak(the big dumb guy who ended up on ER) goes on a diet, goes insane, then goes Alien into the air shafts of the school. Atomic Betty has a minion of the main bad guy with the elongated head. TV series called Andromeda has a species called the M"Gog that lay eggs inside you that eat their way out. "
