You don't want Hannibal Lecter inside your head.

I would say its hardly large enough to cause total human extinction...but it would definitely wipe out a large population in the near vicinity. No offense, but China needs some population control.

We get these every year. I stopped giving them any attention ages ago. Feel free to rub this in my face when one actually does hit us and we're all dead.

Some days I feel like the asteroid can't come soon enough.

Heh, I was like ".....again?" I know from the top of my head that there are also possible asteroid strikes in 2032 (or somewhere that decade) and 2880. The latter one having the highest probability, I think. Anyhow, it has happened before multiple times so it will definitely happen again. Unless Reagan's Star Wars becomes a reality I don't really see any way for us to stop it from happening.

There might be a way. Mass drivers might be installed on the asteroid. These devices would fire jets of the asteroid's own mass away from it, producing a source of thrust which would divert the asteroid off its trajectory. Of course, we would need a lot of advance notice; the process is not as quick and dramatic as certain hypothetical Bruce Willis-based asteroid defense plans.

Would sending a shitload of nukes at it do any good?

Well this asteroid buisness is new to me. If one does come at us Obama's mission to send men on an asteroid will save us.

Can this wait? I need to do some calibrations

No, it would just break it up and we would end up rather than being shot with a, lets say large caliber handgun, end up being shot with a Slug pellet. Best thing to do, would be a Gravity Tractor.

Your thoughts?
I'd laugh if it landed on Canada.

Sure, any large space craft will do. The ones that regularly go into space should do.

Ha, ha ,ha. To be honest if it even does hit, which I don't think it will from what I have learned, I think it would hit somewhere along the equator. Best thing to do, would be a Gravity Tractor.
I just looked it up now. I didn't know what it was and thought you were bull shitting me with some sci-fi thing. My bad.

Don't worry about it, though it would be ironic if they used an actual Tractor...
Nah, I got it from my Astronomy professor, I then saw it on TV a few nights ago.
Feels weird talking about stuff I actually have a clue about whats going on...
