Ridley Scott Interview 3.9.2010
« on: September 03, 2010, 06:36:15 AM »

The Independent ran a brief interview with Ridley Scott today, where he talked briefly about the Alien prequels:

The anticipation for his next project is building to fever pitch: it will be a two-part prequel to Alien, shot in 3D. Scott was never asked to make a sequel to Alien; that honour went to James Cameron, before a further two sequels and two Alien vs Predator spin-offs milked the franchise dry. But with the Lost co-creator Damon Lindoff polishing the first prequel's script, you can sense the competitor in Scott, desperate to put his stamp back on the film series that launched him. "Jim's raised the bar and I've got to jump to it," he says, in a friendly jibe at Cameron. "He's not going to get away with it."

Set 30 years before the 1979 original, so with no room for Sigourney Weaver's Ripley, the prequels will explore the origins of the deadly aliens. "The film will be really tough, really nasty," he notes. "It's the dark side of the moon. We are talking about gods and engineers. Engineers of space. And were the aliens designed as a form of biological warfare? Or biology that would go in and clean up a planet?"

It's a bold move, one that could taint Scott's earlier contribution to the series if it goes wrong. But Scott loves a gamble, whether it's taking on the sequel to The Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, or resurrecting an unfashionable genre with Gladiator. "Everyone sniggered because they thought I was going to do a sandals and toga movie," he remembers. Given the success he's had since, Scott has had the last laugh.

Hm, it looks as if he didn't talk about it but they quoted him from a previous interview. I think it was published at http://www.screendaily.com/news/production/ridley-scott-promises-nasty-alien-prequel-in-3d/5013108.article. I have that interview pasted up here somewhere since April

Cool: will this two part prequel that Damon is doing will it still be about the space jockey and the aliens as well or just the aliens? wasn't that the plot for the 2 part prequel or is it now changed?

There is presently nothing new for the public to know about this since the first statement about Damon's possible involvement.

So if you type in Ridley Scott in YouTube, you get this video that this chick did.  Says MessagetoRidleyScott.  It is a video about an actress who is trying to get seen for the lead in Alien Prequel.
I went to her IMDB page, she lives in Los Angeles, and is a working actress.  HMMM.
She seems to know a bit more then the other girls about the alien franchise.  Here is the video.

I think she looks pretty good.  However she does look a bit like Winona.  I believe that when it comes to franchise brand movies such as Alien, you don't need a somebody. because frankly sometimes they are a distraction.

I stand by my assertion that Ridley has been contaminated by his brother tony.
tony has never achieved a thing on his own merits outside of his star glommed vehicles.
(Or including them IMO.)

And we have heard about the story of Ridley pulling out of Dune because of his heart break over his other brother.

Close family, only one was talented.
Now Ridley is emulating tony's trashy success's, so now there's none.
