This kind of opens up the potential cast if true, it means Scott isn't looking for unknowns. Arterton was in Clash of the Titans and Prince of Persia, that's $820 million in worldwide box office for one year.

Arterton's signed up for Clash 2, as well as the Nolan film and the Richard E. Grant one. If she's gonna be in the new Alien film, it's not gonna be shooting for a while (which, to be honest, is neither surprising or news).
Could be Scott wants her in Gucci, or Monopoly, or any of the countless other's he's got in production. I guess time's gonna tell.

Assuming she even gets the gig of course. Clash 2 starts filming in February which is pretty soon. If she has a big enough role she'll be done in May, which as far as I'm concerned the new Alien film will still be nowhere near shooting stage.

Yeah, looks like it's not gonna make it for the 2011 release date.

Oh absolutely not. At this point we'll be lucky for an Oscar season 2012 release. Last I heard they're on fourth draft. So it's likely there'll be no movement past script stage until early next year.

Hopefully Nolan is going to do that Keys to the Street flick after Batman 3. I have to say, it does NOT sound like something I'd be hyped up for. I think I rarely like big budget dramas...

That movie made Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes look bad. Lets not use it as a barometer of anyones talent.

Nolan's not directing it, he just wrote the screenplay a long time ago. Don't think it's going to be big budget either.

OK, well that's good. I wouldn't mind if he did it after Batman 3 to be honest. It would be nice to see another Memento-level drama from him. Just not at the expense of the Batman franchise. That should be his priority. He has to at least finish out the trilogy and not pull a Singer and have some fucking hack take over and ruin it.

I don't think that's unheard of. I think sometimes directors meet with actors to see if they'd be a collaborative match, in terms of the way they think, the way they approach their craft, etc. See if they'd get along, or if somebody would be eating knuckle sandwiches for lunch on set.
