Has the franchise ran its course? Maybe?  Thinks

There have been enough "Alec Gillis as a dodgy looking biomechanoid" films for one life time

I can't remember who's who anymore quite honestly in that department. The next thing probably might be "why the swear word would I want to remember who exactly was in the alien costumes for the Alien sequels?"

Am I the only one who has realized this whole thing was a lie used to set up an obvious scam?  One day, some random blog says that Ridley is requesting a larger budget than Fox wants with zero sources and zero citation.  The next day same blog sets up a paypal account for donations to supposedly help Ridley get the budget he wants.  Pretty much the oldest fucking trick in the book.

Which random blog is this? I thought Sky Movies HD were the first with the report.

I think Scriptflags reported it first, and then AICN and a bunch of other news sites latched onto it like the BS news services they are.  Scriptflags is also the one who set up the paypal account for donations.  I've seen this happen many times in other fandoms.  They use the worries of the fans to cash in on their stupidity.

Oh yes, I'm reading on Skymovies HD report, they don't seem to have much of a clue about the talk about the Alien prequel in the Independent being second hand news from several months earlier. Hohum.

Never mind, guys. At least you have Dennis Lowe's excellent new films to look forward to. He's the only man around still making informed movies about and around the original ALIEN, and he'll forgive me, I'm sure, for at least telling you that he has some pretty extraordinary stuff coming up without my letting out what. More power to Dennis.

Amazing. I thought I was the only one who noticed about the alien suits in the subsequent movies. Those two guys are clearly dedicated and highly skilled artists and their suits appear technically flawless. But I think perhaps it was the way Bolaji moved and held himself that contributed as much to the original. Even when he was standing or sitting still, he scared the shit out of you with his improbably long limbs which appeared to be double-jointed and you kept one eye on him all the time and felt he could reach out acroos a room and pull you in. Which one wears the new suits? Woodruff? As I say, excellent guys but not 7 foot tall Masai. A fuller version of the original ALIEN for the future, incorporating more of the uncanny stuff of Bolaji, really ought to be considered one day.

I'm off in a few days for a break on the island of Ibiza, where I spent a lot of time in the 80's and 90's amongst the Cafe Del Mar. Staying on the north of the island near the sea caves where "hippie" communes still encamp, I'll be taking the usual mask and flippers and just drifting around out there. The islanders believe that Ibiza is connected to Atlantis somehow!

Yes, guys, be careful of sending money through PayPal for "Ridley's budget" for heavens sake.

This bloody internet can be a minefield.

Keep creating. Take care of yourselves and each other.

I haven't been to Ibiza since 1977

I sometimes wonder if the strange crystaline "city-like ruin" structures in the "Fall in Hellas Basin" on Mars have anything to do with Atlanteans if they had space travel. It's a hell of a strange place to explore on the Mars setting of the GoogleEarth program, especially with all the structures likes statues of faces I keep finding and tableaus too, ought to be an interesting place to visit

I'm disappointed that I can't find a site where it says that if you donate ten thousand dollars, you get to wear an alien suit in the next Alien movie and be filmed

Woodruff was good in Alien 3, but beyond that, the Alien design was terrible, nadir for design and performance being AVPR:

Kevin Peter Hall might've made a good Alien, though he was not as thin as Bolaji. Anyway, enough fan-man ranting, enjoy your holiday Jon, you lucky guy! Take it easy  Cool

Yeah, I don't blame Woodruff given his Alien3 performance. I blame lazy directors who don't spend enough time working out the (very important) details like movement. It pays to have a borderline insane perfectionist behind the camera.
