Oh yes, I'm reading on Skymovies HD report, they don't seem to have much of a clue about the talk about the Alien prequel in the Independent being second hand news from several months earlier. Hohum.
That's from the Scriptflags article as well - Sky and Scriptflags seem to be mostly identical (complete with the incredibly dodgy certification info about the previous films).

That's rather worrying since Skymovies HD is an official TV channel website

This rating issue is highly suspect. 15 and 18 rating in the UK are both often equal to the American R rating. The Expendables is rated 15 and is Ridley Scott really planning on going more OTT than this?

A certain birth scene in a certain Ridley Scott movie is more gory that that...

That certain Ridley Scott film didn't have a 200+ bodycount.
Regardless that still leaves the $64,000 why would Fox care about the difference between 15 and 18 when it's still going to be R in the U.S.?

Fox aren't going to care about UK certification full stop - the only market they really care about when it comes to certification is the US, which means PG-13 or R. I can only suspect that the message has been garbled, either by the journalist or the 'source'. But the journalist is well out on their certification background. Examples: The subsequent sequels had far more cash lavished on them, but both Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection targeted 15 ratingsExcept that the two films both resulted in R and 18 ratings in the US and UK respectively. The studio even had Fincher up the gore for Alien 3. The first of the Alien Vs. Predator spin-offs was designed for a younger audience, receiving a PG-13 rating in the States (12A in the UK), while the more recent sequel, AvP: Requiem, restored the violence and R rating Stateside (18 in the UK)...Except that both films received a 15 in the UK. That's really bad journalism!

The true question about this prequel is... It will be a gotic horror film like the first or a war film like the second?

My money is on that it will be neither.
