I don't see Scott watering his film down for a fucking PG-13 rating.  I don't know who that corporate tool was that was quoted in this article, but he really needs to hari kari if thats his stance.  Hopefully, we can get some kind of resolution to this nonsense soon.

i wouldj love Alien to b a PG 13 rating 4 the 1st time. The other Alien movie(s) were R and the language was well, all right but too great for a lot of young audiences. as long the older parents don't take their kids if they don't care they bring themselves. TERMINATOR 4 was PG-13 not R with bad language but more non-stop acton all the way. Rid could do his film rating his way, he's the director and he'll do it right he'll do what he's doing. No 1 could go say anyway different. ALIEN is just like GL, "ALiIEN IS RIDLEY SCOTT'S BABY even though he didn't do all six but he's doing the se/prequel 1 and 2 cool. U want R? U want profanity? and scary images? ROTS wasn't R it was PG-13 with scary images for the 1st time. I go for RID's work his work the way he want to direct it from the script and getting the job done with the 1st and 2nd next year and the year after.
If U don't like...c-mon give it PG-13...U comment guys then don't see it if U hate the rating.

Did IQs just drop sharply while I was away?

I don't know what he's like in other posts, but that source is indeed an idiot.

All his posts are like this, especially at AvPGalaxy. Every damn one is just so angry. It's like someone pisses in his cornflakes every morning and calls him a bitch for being upset about it.

And do you have to be so childish that you have to bitch about things in other forums like a teen drama queen instead of talking about what is being discussed in the actual thread?  Do you have stock in Newscorp or something?  Why are you defending some corporate tool that would make the film we all want to see  a G-Rated Barney film like he is your mother?  Is he your mother?

See? This is what I mean. I never mentioned the news source or anything of the like, and now he's going off on this wonderfully spamtastic nonsense trying to ... insult me, or something. Every post is just brimming with this high-strung, angry horseshit. It honestly doesn't matter what I post here, he would still respond with some enraged impotent ranting about something I never even thought of, let alone typed.

Right, you're crying about being insulted when you insulted me first.  Yeah, you don't have a problem with hypocrisy at all.  If you don't want to defend that (supposed) guy at Fox, don't wig out when I criticize him for being a tool.  It's not that hard to understand.  No one here I think cares about the crush you have on me at other forums.  They care about the topic of the thread.  So maybe you should keep that stuff to yourself.

Who's crying?

You don't understand. Or care to, clearly -- but it's not about your criticizing someone for being a tool (After all, that's what I'm doing now). It's about being such an unrelentingly angry little man about it. There's no reason to say he should commit suicide for his opinion, that's just childish.

I don't agree with the guy. And I'm not going to defend him. but I'm mature enough to not think he needs to die for his opinion on something so trivial as a movie.

Well, if the pink panther says it.

I lost all hope for this movie when I first read this news.

Do you think the fact that it's slated to be in 3D is because Scott believes that this film cannot exist any other way? Or that it will make the film an instant classic? Or that it will further the story?  It's being done because that's what's hot in the market right now.

In general, 3D is being done because it's the one thing cinema can offer to draw people in and prevent them from downloading the films.  Last gasp of a dying market?  Maybe.

But as for Ridley...  I recall the bit in one of the Blade Runner documentaries that noted that Scott worked out early on that if you didn't have motion the image would be flat and the illusion of dimensionality was lost (hence how there's so much movement of light in his scenes where nothing else is going on).  This may be a man who's always been looking to work in 3D, and now has the opportunity and tools to do so.  Not to mention the capital, with Scott Free Productions trying to acquire MasterImage 3D.

I could go either way about PG-13.  If they're aiming for a PG-13 to make the film more marketable, that's a bad thing.  If it arises naturally from stylistic choices, it's not necessarily so bad.  If the film's emphasis is on brooding horror like the first film, rather than violence and gore like AVP:R, we might even expect a PG-13 rating.

Preach Brother!

But I doubt anyone is going to listen Tongue

If Natalie Portman is in the movie, count me first in line.

Much like the concept of "widescreen" and the Cinemascope aspect ratio. Just because it's a gimmick, doesn't mean it's not ultimately a good thing.

...Says the guy who's still only seen one "real 3D" movie.   D'oh!

PG-13 or not, but what the heck is the thing about Natalie Portman? I mean, are we being serious here? Firstly, I thought we'll be getting some person who is not very well known, which is what I would have preferred. Secondly, I thought we'll be getting somebody who is not really Ripley, but certainly I did not expect that it means it will be Padmé Amidala. Or anyway, a different type of person. Next time they can cast Keira Knightley for all I care. Man, I have been looking forward to this movie, so far I have been able to shrug off all doubts, but this is not normal. (Nothing against Natalie Portman, but you just cannot cast her in this! Come on!!!)  It's like beating your head off a brick wall in here
