Given the toxic and hostile nature of the alien's physiology I don't think such viruses would survive once inserted into the alien's body.  Both such viruses appear to be designed around mammalian physiology.

I am sure the alien is very resistant to all forms of microorganisms, viruses, bacteria, etc. However, a man-made nanovirus engineered to kill them off could be a nice impetus for a comic or novel. The alien's physiology manages to mutate and just somehow make the fuckers even more deadly.

There probably would be something that could indeed "infect" them and make them ill, but nothing on earth. A virus Alien, im sure that would have the same affect.

I like that.  And I'm surprised it hasn't been used in a comic/novel yet.

...Well, if an Alien is utilising its host's DNA to do the host-mediated characteristic thing, then there's a chance that a virus the host's susceptible to could attach itself to a cell wall...

...And if an Alien's utilising its host's DNA to 'borrow' characteristics at the cellular level, there's a chance that the virus could replicate within the cell...

But I'd be far more worried about catching something off an Alien.  Can you imagine an Alien virus?  A virus that could do the host-mediated characteristic thing?  There'd be no immunity from it, the thing would just change to attach itself to whatever receptor site of yours it fancied.

They'd go extinct really quick.

But I don't think I'd care either way about being attacked by a rage infected Alien or just a normal one!

Interesting idea considering the Aliens themselves are somewhat of a virus in the way they spread and take over other lifeforms' bodies. Give 'em a taste of their own medicine and get them infected with something.

If anyone's read Aliens: Labyrinth, they'll remember that the Aliens became sick in the recollections of Dr. Church, though they didn't turn into zombies. They just got sick and died I believe.

I had a alien comic that was about a single alien egg that looked "infected" It had a pink crust around it. Eventually some fool gets the thing attached to his face, and it explodes and would kill the host it self further and the other person in the room. The chestburster also seemed to go out of its way to kill people, eating them alive and such. Although it left a trail of pink dust. The burster dies I think, by it self, it was never killed by people. they find it in a room dead and slowly crumbling away.
EDIT: The comic is : Aliens, kidnapped

Yeah, I was thinking about that too. The aliens were being killed by, what the graphic novel only described as 'Black Mould'. Although it wasn't the mould itself that was killing the aliens, rather the mycotoxins that it produced. Plus the alien hive attempted to adapt to the threat, even evolving multiple 'bellybursters' within female hosts(nice to have thought up something original, eh Greg? Colin?  Wink ), in an attempt to quickly bolster their numbers, albeit ineffectively, as all who have read the story know.

Nasty! What I was thinking is, what would happen if an alien was exposed to the organism from John Carpenter's The Thing? That'd be something to see!  Smiley

Thats actually a really fascinating idea. I bet that "thing" would be almost unstoppable. The perfect combo of interstellar killers.

I think it would weaken the Alien. I don't think a "thing" infected alien would survive the rest of its brethren when they discover one of their own is out to get them...

If it was an ALIEN  infected from the Alien in the THING. It would no longer be an ALIEN...it'd be a perfect copy. An imitation. It'd be the Thing.

I tend to think of a virus as something that attacks & weakens its host.

Though for hostility...an ALIEN infected with the Rabies virus?  Viciousness with no reason
