Cameron won't be available until 2009 because he's working on Avatar and Battle Angel.
True. And he probably won't be interested after that, given that Fox cancelled his Alien 5 project to make AVP, which he's still quite sore about, I'd imagine. |

From Cameron's perspective, I can see how he puts AvP third. Alien 3 pissed all over his nu-nuclear family, which I'm guessing he never got over enough to see that the film itself is pretty good. And Alien Resurrection is pretty much a big pile of crap.? (So is AvP, but it's removed from the Ripley storyline, so there's none of Cameron's investment in that particular character to detract from his enjoying the film.) If you rate A3 and A:R as complete turkeys, it ain't hard to top that.? I doubt very much that JC would rank AvP remotely anywhere near Alien or Aliens' quality. But that's all supposition on my part, obviously.?  (Plus, I simply can't bear the thought of JC thinking that AvP is that good.? Crazy ol' Canuck.) |

Agreed: He truly is just pissy his "Interesting characters" (His words. Tooting your own horn, anyone ... ?) and happy happy ending got impaled, drowned, incinerated, and damn-near raped by the harsh, cold mistress of reality.
Or at least as close to reality as you can get in a movie about 8-foot tall acid-bleeding aliens...

And mad. Nah, he's just conventional. Aliens is probably the safest film of the original four in terms of catering to a wide audience. Alien3 and Resurrection both went down different paths than would've normally been expected. Since they turned out inferior both critically and commercially maybe Jimbo's onto something... AvP is straightforward and Jimbob makes straightforward films. |
