Well, I agree with gameroverman's basic premise about corporate control. That is why I referenced Herbert Marcuse, who has made the argument that the commodification of our lives has led to new forms of social control. The constant acquisition of new goods, the creation of false needs, has led to the loss of autonomy and freedom for the individual.

Created around this is a media machine and control of information to convince the masses they are more "free" under a laissez-faire market system. What some people fail to realize is that centralization of power happens under a laissez-faire system as well...you just replace government control for corporate control.

Also, I think the premise that there is little difference between Republicans and Democrats is also true. As Marcuse would argue, you do not have political freedom when your choices are pre-ordained and limited.

As for Palin, she is part of the media machine I referenced above.

Well, no.  It's the monetary system that is the problem.  Get rid of it, and governments can only spend what they collect in taxes.  We are living under the biggest financial scam in history.

The regulatory structure only benefits those with the most resources.  Because they can use those resources to get around it.  It also gets rid of their competition.

Corporations could not exist government.

Of course it does.  Civilisation went from tribalism/nomadism to this.  As long as there exists the greedy and the gullible.  No system is perfect.
