Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen, Fox and Gearbox have released a teaser trailer for the long, long, looooooongly anticipated tactial-shooter Aliens: Colonial Marines. Check. It. Out. It's clear from the teaser that a squad of Colonial Marines discover the fate of the Sulaco and pay a visit to LV-426 for some fun in the sun. Better pack your sunscreen. Expect more at E3.

What? Hadley's Hope was certainly nuked. Unless they pull some bullshit like having it take place during Aliens, and Ripley and Co. never came across the other marines or their ship...

Hadley's certainly looked wrecked to me. Cool Stuff: Sephora's a Conrad reference. http://66.194.172.6Hostname: Father (Checked it out last night and all that was up there was the video, but presume that will change given it's quite a circular reference! Interestingly it redirects to 174.143.27.200, so I suspect that a main site will appear soon at 66.194.172.6) Crap Stuff: Doesn't bode well for quality control if they can't even spell 'rescinded' right in a trailer.

The video at that IP address has a couple of extra seconds of gameplay. Looks scary as shit!

Alright! About damned time!!
I'm looking forward to this, hmmmm, Spring 2012 - just in time for me to play Gears 3 and Batman Arkham City to death before I move onto my next gaming project.

I found A-R to be a fine movie right up till the Crying Skeletor with Tits showed up.

The Alien jumping on top of your gun and then getting thrown off is a little bit... hokey?
Looks pretty cool though.
--EDIT--
Probably doesn't mean anything, but I just took a look at the metadata on the page:
<meta name="author" content="Weyland-Yutani"> <meta name="version" content="Sulaco Operation Protocol v1.2.8"> <meta http-equiv="expires" content="Tue, 30 May 2180 00:00:00">
Set just shy of a year after Aliens?

Maybe, but better than being able to wander round and beat up aliens, a-la AVP? I think an avoidance/counter move is needed, otherwise the players character would get a wee bit immulsified quite swiftly?

I'm ok with there being a blocking or pushing move, but being able to fling an Alien up and off the end of your gun does make them seem a bit... light. How much do they weigh?

Fair point... Looking forward to some game play action though!

This trailer made me dream about an Aliens TV series about the USCM. I think they were also occasionally fighting space pirates of some kind and combat androids. Now I want to see that happen...

Very good news, I would say. I mean, certainly something new (or "new") to look forward to. Of course it will take some time, but why not. I guess the point is if they this time really, seriously, are planning to release it.

Wouldn't be to hard really. Just focus it around a small platoon or squad like we have all ready seen. Toss in some minimalist action and questionable borderline dialog. ( Like put it on FX if not a good cable network ) You would not even have to introduce the aliens, as they are not widely known through out the cosmos.

FX is a good cable network. I was thinking more HBO, Showtime or Starz. You need that gore and fuckbombs. In my dream, the first season had just ended. 13 episodes. It showed potential. Then I was thinking how every episode wouldn't focus on aliens. There would be civil wars, company treachery, androids run amok, Jockeys, Predators*, etc. Continuity nazis would hate it. *-Late in the series, and mysterious. We wouldn't even know what they are called, as they would always refuse to communicate with our species.

Fuck all that
I'd make it 2 hours of Black Hawk Down in space theatrical epicness.
As for the game, would the USCM really just send another squad when Apone's crew went missing?
