As for the game, would the USCM really just send another squad when Apone's crew went missing? How long after we're declared overdue can we expect a rescue? Seventeen days.

Fuck all that
I'd make it 2 hours of Black Hawk Down in space theatrical epicness.

I am looking to delve into the universe of the films and build up complex characters.

Not that Cambo was ever the paragon of military accuracy or anything. I am looking to delve into the universe of the films and build up complex characters.
I have testicles.

FX is a good cable network.
That it is. I meant FX, or "another" good cable network. Like a/n Showtime or Cinemax. But I don't see them doing something like that. So, FX would do. Maybe USA. or AMC! Not that Cambo was ever the paragon of military accuracy or anything. Seventeen days is pretty accurate even for the military to mount 'rescue'/recovery operations. Though, the shorter the better, they do have better moments. One to two weeks is sadly the norm.

Really? I figured if a squad of some sort, was deployed to do some recon and you guys lost contact, they'd send two in immediately. With todays instant communications and whatnot.

All depends on the political landscape really. Like Durant. It took almost two weeks to get him back, and they released him when we did.. 10 or 12 days depending on who you ask. A lot of the delay other than logistical is INTEL. and of course mounted rescue operations are alot like " admissions to FAILURE " and " DEFEAT ", which is frowned upon in various establishmented governments. Mine included.

How fast is a spaceship supposed to get across the galaxy? It's a bit different isn't it? 17 days travel time for the closest ship.

17 days is pretty fast for the USCM, given it took 3 weeks for the Sulaco to get to LV-426.

Plus there is the fact that when would the USCMC officially list them as "overdue"? Being the type of rescue operation is was, might be up to 72 hours, or even upwards of 10 days given their possible 'elite' status ( even if they were just grunts. "No offense". ) and varied resources... So, 17 days, plus 3 to 10 stretches it out some.

Could be worse, and 'overdue' may include the Sulaco's return journey, so that would add in another 21 days!
Although I think this is probably unlikely. It'd make more sense for the Sulaco to ping the APC and dropship, and if there's consistently no response, to network the USCM and declare the combat team overdue. Especially considering the APC's set up to monitor the marines' vital functions and radio traffic.

And keep in mind the question was phrased "how long after we're declared overdue?". So it's is 17 days on top of whatever is deemed overdue by the USCMC.

Look at history. I know it is just a line from a monologue in Jaws but is actual fact that the USS Indianapolis wasn't listed as overdue for a week.
It happens all the time as I mentioned in a previous post. Time parameters are set by no-load bean counter, juvenile dipshit intelligence officers that just cannot get a handle on how actual field operations work. Then they often times set obscure limits on time and space restrictions, and all you end up with is a goat fuck waiting to happen.

Hey, in real life the Indianapolis was never declared overdue because nobody even realised it had failed to make port! (And to make matters worse, even though it sent a mayday, nobody bothered to log it!) Huge fuck up all round.

Seeing as we're now 3 days into E3, shouldn't we start seeing some more of this game?
Being a Microsoft Man, I haven't been that interested the last few days, been all sony and Nintendo.

I found A-R to be a fine movie right up till the Crying Skeletor with Tits showed up.
