I prefer to reserve pessimism until after a game is released. Actually, even then, I prefer to enjoy what I get in spite of imperfections, because if I worry about every tiny thing, I'll just give myself an ulcer.

I'm just not going to be in denial. I'm still a fan and I'll play the games. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

I agree with Hudson. Though I may pick apart the visuals I will play it, and I will hope for the best... but my hopes wont be too high. Every ALIENS game since AVP2 has been hyped and pushed, but has yet to deliver the full-on experience that AVP2 did. I still hold AVP2, ALIEN Trilogy, and Atari Jaguar's AVP as the best offerings to date, and I would still play them to this day. ...I actually do still fire up ALIEN Trilogy from time to time. And if I still had a Jaguar I'd be playing AVP every so often too.
That said: I enjoy AVP (2010) has it's short comings, but I still own it and still play it. It's just not what it was cracked up to be. And the track record thus far with ALIENS games doesn't have me inclined to hold my breath for Colonial Marines.

The fact that it's solely an Aliens game, rather than an AVP game, gives me some hope. I'm having a hard time articulating why - maybe it's indicative of a change in direction, or maybe it's just that I always liked the "Alien" part of the equation better.
There's also the fact that it appears to be more directly tied to the series mythology than anything we've seen yet (Alien Trilogy doesn't count, as it's more of an alternate-continuity retelling and very light on narrative).

Maybe the Aliens only video game and Prometheus are the blowing winds of change in terms of how the franchise is to be handled? Or perhaps they're just intended to be cash-cows too. Time will tell, I suppose.

I don't think Prometheus is going to be a cash cow. From what it sounds like, the way everyone is describing it's sort of genre bending sci-fi premise, it sounds to me like the anti-Avatar, which I dig.

Well, I mean...his character is one of the multiplayer choices. I confirmed personally that Mark Rolston voiced his own character so I assumed Beihn would too. Although I don't get that shot of the distress signal with the bandage on....

Yeah, me neither. By the time Hicks has that bandage on he's lights out.

Well, the rest of the story makes less sense after that so oh well. At least the multiplayer's a blast.

Yeah, I read the plot on xenopedia. It really doesn't bother me as I don't consider this game to be even remotely canon.

Too bad Fox does. I wish they controlled the non-film universe stuff as well as Lucasfilm. Instead they'll licence anything for a dime regardless of how much sense, or non-sense, it makes.

We've had this discussion before, but I will choose what pretend things to believe and what pretend things not to believe. Nobody can enter my mind and tell me otherwise. Yet.

Yeah, but it doesn't really matter if they consider a video game canon when I have 5 films that totally contradict it. Plus, it's not like the game is integral to the plot at all. I'd say if the game sucked AND still answered questions that had been asked, then I'd be a little concerned, but as it stands I only laugh at their validation of the game.
