Topic: Atari Jaguar Emulators for OSX? (Read 4097 times)

I've really been craving some old-school Jaguar AVP action... but I sold my Atari Jaguar 12 years ago. So I'm looking for a Jaguar emulator that runs on Mac OSX and the accompanying AVP ROM.
I've been searching emulators, and it seems the only Jaguar emulators out there run on Windows... I never installed said OS on my Mac (even though I partitioned one of my HD Bays for it.) I really don't want to purchase Windows just for an emulator - hence my quest for a Mac version.

I've got the Windows one -- never seen a Mac one, unfortunately. And I spent ages looking for any kind of emulator. The available ROM is pretty wank anyway. The scoring system doesn't work (You have 123456789 points at all times.), the motion tracker doesn't work, the marine HUD doesn't tell you what security pass you actually have, Predator infra-red vision makes the screen wig the fuck out (technically works, but the image becomes stretched) and none of the sprites are clean -- they all have masking around them, which is really, really noticeable when you kill Aliens, not to mention some textures just flat out refuse to work and you get blobs of multicoloured pixels.

Maybe find one for Linux? Or if you want to buy a Jag again, I would be willing to sell or trade you my old one (don't have AVP, though).

Thanks, Sil! Much appreciated. That sounds too glitchy for my taste. Becks - could a Jaguar be hooked-up to an HD TV? Sorry if this a strange question, but the Jaguar used the old-school TV/Computer switch didn't it? ...Or was it a coaxial connector? If it's coaxial I suppose it could.

I tried hooking it up. It's coaxial for sure, although there is a proprietary AV cable you can buy for it for composite/s-video connection. However, I can't get my HDTV to tune to channel 3 (or any channel) and when I switch the unit on, the light does not come on. I also don't have a game cart, so right now it doesn't look like mine is functioning. You would probably be better off ebaying one. It's possible that it just won't power on without a cartridge, but who knows. Looks like back in the closet for this old console.
