I know this could be in another thread but to be honest I'm unsure which as there is much talk of this obviously. I just read the wiki page for the film and discovered some cool things, I'm sure you may have read already.

Firstly, is this an 'Alien' prequel or not??
According to wiki many of the main cast and behind the scenes folk are saying it is a prequel YES, but I thought it wasn't? I thought Scott said he will make that after or soon??

Secondly, if you read the wiki page it also mentions Scott is making a PG-13!!! version of the film as well as an R rated version, Fox will review both!!? WTF! PG-13!! kiss my arse with that nonsense, I don't care if they release the R version on DVD and BR afterwards, its R rating OR NOTHING for me. It seems Fox were reluctant to give Scott the money he needed for a film that WASN'T PG-13! what a bunch of idiots! don't they know who Scott is! his visions, his track record in this field.....jesus christ!

What it says on wiki sounds tremendous I must say but so far I really have no clue whats happening with the Alien line, prequel or not?

Pics here look 'Alien' for sure although the cockpit shots don't look so good. If this film isn't an Alien prequel then Scott may have made a bad choice as it sure as hell looks like Alien so far, in which case it will be considered an Alien copy and may not be received so well.

Seriously, I simply cannot find one source that will confirm what this film is about! Alien prequel, Alien related or new stand alone sci-fi film, even the AvP Galaxy nerds don't know.

The trailer you speak of....where!!? most things I come across have been removed and the trailer thread on here is a fake.

I've read that its all about the space jockey race but then I read its a new sci-fi franchise, does anyone actually know lol!

Seen some 'concept art' of the jockey race on U-tube but unknown if its real.

Even these guys don't know what its about but there seems to be allot of scene remaking going on, or similar, if its a stand alone film.

And it pretty much is just the whole trailer redone with Prometheus footage? Would you like a diagram or graph perhaps? Maybe a pie chart?

I don't follow, what are you saying? I haven't seen any trailer or anything official yet.

I know this new film has similarities including the title reveal but no one actually knows if that is the real deal yet, or do they?

There seems to be a huge confusion as to what the film actually is...

1. Official Alien prequel
2. Stand alone sci-fi with no similarities, completely new franchise
3. Stand alone sci-fi with similarities
4. Official sci-fi set in Alien universe/time period but not actual prequel

It's number 4, with the last 8 minutes directly relating to Alien. Ridley said so. So it is said, so it shall be.
