What indicated the Weyland portion was UK to begin with? It's Weyland Aspen Beer not Weyland Tynemill Beer.
You've been over most of this with me for what must be nearly 10 years going back to IMDb, the old place (was it Outbreak? Can't remember the name anymore) and the amount of stuff I've yet to learn boggles the mind!

As I recall, they always wanted the Company to be Anglo-Japanese. For the Anglo part, they got Weyland from British Leyland. They were going to use something similar to Toyota for the Japanese part, but ended up naming it Yutani after somebody's (can't recall who - Scott or Ron Cobb) neighbour.
WY are multinational. They own a lot of property and commercial interests all over the place (including Fiorina 161 and LV426).

Yeah...Weyland Corp...obviously the Yutani part comes in sometime before 2122. If this series of updates is set in 2023 then there's plenty of time for that to happen. And honestly, the only time the Japanese portion of the company ever had ANY influence at all was the end of Alien 3. Those big symbols on the walls and the designs of the special forces people. Not to mention the actual asian person at the end. Other than that I never saw the influence.

Website's set around 2073, celebrating 50 years of Weyland Corp/Industries. Plenty of time for a merge with Yutani Crop/Zaibatsu, but it's not gonna be an Anglo-Japanese corp any more.
By 2073 it's the biggest corporation in the solar system, operating in 160 countries and 63 colonies (Luna, Mars, Titan?), employing 873 million people. And it's already embarked on terraforming at least some of those colonies, and already has the 'Building Better Worlds' motto. So Yutani's influence is slight.
Fincher wanted to strengthen the Japanese part of WY in Alien 3 so a lot of suff has Japanese written on it. Even the Sulaco's flight recorder has 'Weyland Yutani Corp' on it in Japanese!

Really? Cool! Look how much one can still learn I really liked that Anglo-Japanese concept, though. And just for the record, I think the name "Weyland-Yutani" is totally fabulous. Linguistically beautiful. And I really like the "Yutani" part - that's why I was totally appalled when *some movie* made its own totally screwed up poor attempt to hint at it *facepalm* - no, maybe rather *facehug* (though they don't deserve even that...) I really, really love the direction this "Weyland Corporation" is taking this far, though. I think I just got a new personal favourite public persona So I'm really interested in what are they going to give us next...

Not necessarily. Weyland himself is a Pom. Could be looked at like News Corp. Originated in Adelaide, but is now based in Delaware. And if we go by the blu-ray menus which lists London/ Tokyo/ San Francisco/ Sea of Tranquility/ Thedus - there's still the Anglo connection. And maybe the HQ shifts by the time the merger occurs. Plenty of room for it all to fit if one wanted it to (and I do) . (can't recall who - Scott or Ron Cobb) Cobb. Pretty sure the sign behind Aaron in the rallying scene translates as Weyland Yutani Joint Stock Corporation.

Plenty of room for it all to fit if one wanted it to (and I do) . Yeah, it's a good way of looking at it. And I completely understand wanting it to all fit into place. I'm just a bit itchy about the details - Weylan gone in favour of Weyland, the mention of Weyland Industries on the website (is this reminiscent of the News Ltd/News Corp distinction?), the US HQ. Mostly I'm just peeved about Weylan going. I should be ecstatic that there are 60 odd colonies in the solar system, 'cos that sounds exactly like how I'd expect 50-years-before Alien to be.

Yeah I'm kinda annoyed at Weylan being ditched. But I don't know how they'd get around that one since only a relative handful of people know the original spelling. Maybe there was an error at the printing plant and the lowly tug-jockies got all the mis-spelled coporate merch. In regards to Uncle Rupert, News Corp is the parent and News Ltd is the Australian subsidiary (News Int'l being the UK arm). So, Corp may be a parent of Industries or vice versa. But ultimately I don't give a shit if AvP is excised from the other films continuity.

I can't lie, the Weyland/Weylan thing makes my eye twitch a bit, but it's such a small detail I can let it slide.
