PCTH! MY ORIGINAL HOME CHANGE! How have you been friend! I made you a birthday thread like YEARS ago!
And SM, the eggs in the original seem more orderly to me, than those. Might just be me.
That is the original. Albeit from a higher angle.

I find it hard to believe I'm saying this, but I feel more at peace with the idea of The Big Baldy being a Space Jockey. He does resemble one of the fleshy humanoids from Giger's many beautiful airbrushed paintings, the skin tone is right, plus the stern but serene expression, from what we can see of his/her/its' face. The nose seems to run straight into the forehead at an angle consistent with the slope of the SJ helmet too, he also appears to lack clearly defined earflaps, so definitely isn't mammalian. Granted, we haven't had a very good look at the beings' face, so nothing can be said with any certainty - he could look less human than he appears at first glance. I always thought the jockey we were seeing was its bones. I don't think he was wearing a helmet. He was kind of grown into a breathing tube on his face which might have been biomechanical. I don't know if he was grown into the chair permanent or could separate and walk around. The later seems more likely. He or they got in over their head and didn't want any other explorers to get in trouble too. Seems like the bones had been there for years. Ten years? Twenty years? Fifty years? One hundred fifty? I thought the aliens came from the planet as natives. The planet sure looked like a place they would feel comfortable in. But where were they? Maybe he picked 'em up elsewhere and figured out he was impregnated and landed on the planet to warn and die. If he was able to operate his control telescope, there couldn't have been any man-size aliens walking around. He probably had woke up after the facehugger left and had some time to send the signal.

I used to think that of the Space Jockey, up 'til about a year ago, when Riddles mentioned that it was a suit. It is a suit, that's a fact, Almost everyone involved with Prometheus who has mentioned the SJs has confirmed this. I'm just able to change my mind about it when new info comes my way, I try not to get too attached to a viewpoint, since with any fictional being that no one knows shit all about, the filmmakers are not likely to share my ideas. Besides, the idea of it being a biomechanical suit makes sense, if you take the time to think about it.
Never once did I think that the xenos originated from Acheron, there are no host lifeforms to make their existence there tenable, plus if there were lifeforms once, the colonists, or the company rep at Ripley's inquest would have mentioned it ("No, it's a rock. No indigenous life."). No fossils, nada, just a volcanic moon.

There were no host life-forms when the Nostromo set down on the planet. Who's to say it wasn't once teeming with life; the entire eco-system wiped out by the aliens; who then went dormant? I personally don't think they originate from the planet, but just playing Devil's Advocate.

Wasn't that O'Bannon's Canon?

Yes, it was, however his Canon stated that the 'killer xenomorph' was just the larval form, with the adult being a more placid, civilised technological intelligence. There were no host life-forms when the Nostromo set down on the planet. Who's to say it wasn't once teeming with life; the entire eco-system wiped out by the aliens; who then went dormant? That's why I mentioned the Company Rep. If there were originally native lifeforms there, Ripley's inquest would have most likely mentioned that fossils had been found by the survey teams, or by the subsequent colonists. That said, the entire surface appears to be volcanic, the derelict is positioned atop the rock formations, and the consensus is that the eggs are inside the derelict, so the evidence supports the idea that LV 426/Acheron was always a primordial, Titanoid moon, with not much sedimentation visible (the only sediment present seems to be windborne dust, which also contributed to the erosion), a process that would have actually properly started after the atmosphere had been converted by the AP, and the rain had started to fall. It's probably more likely that the SJs were there with terraforming in mind.

I don't watch many trailers but I've watched this one quite a few times. I think it really works because of the way they mixed the music together, there are as well of course many cool images...also like how it stops and starts again with the scream.

I think that the less I say about the new Prometheus movie at the moment, the better. For me, maybe all the wonder that Alien is, is a one off. I'll just assume it'll be as good as any Ridley movie and I usually like his movies whatever I think of them. Perhaps it's a product of the 21st century maybe rather than something for all the Alien fans from yesteryear

That's really cool, better than the original trailers. I'd like to see someone do Prometheus style trailers to the other Alien films as well now.

Does anyone know if they are going to CGI the crap out of the creatures?
I need puppets and real goo! The Thing 2011 was a big miss for me because of the CGI.

Thanks for that thread, my friend! I was doing pretty nice at the moment, back in December, but then I lost my dog few days later and it hit me really hard and I just faded out of any internet activity because I was trying to avoid answering people's questions how I was doing, because I was doing shitty. Anyway, thanks for asking! I've been better lately
