Just had a quick bash on the Demo for xbox 360.  Played both a Predator and a Marine, the Predator controls i wasn't to keen on when it came to using the wristblades.  Did terrible with the Marine mainly because I've played CoD: MW2 that often that i was trying to use the controls for that instead of the proper controls for AVP.  The map looks good and a lot of the times i got caught off guard by people playing the Alien, made me jump a few times if I'm honest lol.  I would of enjoyed it a lot more if I'd of gotten used to the controls a little more.  Overall the little time i played it it was good, but a little slow.  Can't wait to play the full version of the game and i feel that the demo should of included samples of the main campain game to IMO.  Going to have another bash at the demo later on in my free time overall i enjoyed it but i didn't have long to play it  Smiley

I managed to play it for fifteen minutes before I was called in at work. There was only one slot available so I had to play as the Alien.

The controls weren't what I was hoping for, I don't like that you can't walk upright and I found it very hard actually get in and kill someone. Even as you're standing still you always lunge forward whenever you use the attack buttons, so chances are you'll probably miss your target if they strafe out of the way because the turning is too slow when you're actually doing something.

There's a big chance I'm just approaching it the wrong way, I'm gonna play with some friends on Xbox Live tonight and see how that goes. Too bad it was only regular Deathmatch, would've enjoyed Team alot more!

Alright, I take it back. I'm loving it now! Cheesy
The classes all take their due time to master but once you figure out their strengths and weaknesses you become completely immersed.

I'm slightly perplexed by the fact that there's no crouch though, which would be especially useful for the predator methinks. Oh well!

Back to slaughtering some more!

I've been playing the Xbox 360 downloadable demo -- it's very atmospheric and true to the feel of the Alien and Predator universes... I really dig playing each of the three characters -- but more so of course as an Alien or Predator...!

Here's a link with video footage of the demo:

I love it! I like the Alien and Pred because you can grab from behind! Marines are cool too.

Downloaded it, its a nightmare to connect to a game on PC. Left it searching and managed to join a game after about 20 minutes.. I was a marine, and it was hard!! Really dark and spooky, couldnt see the aliens until the came out of the shadows or grabbed me from behind. Quite enjoyed it!
I wish you could atleast aim down the sights though, and yeh it feels wierd not being able to crouch.

You guys know those multiplayer trailers where the developers dub in a bunch of the screams from panicking team mates and fake orders for everyone?

Well this is the first game I've ever played where this stuff is actually happening for reals! I've just played it for about five hours straight with eight of my friends. We "created" our own Team modes where it was five marines, one predator and two aliens fighting as teams against one another. It might just have been one of the best multiplayer experiences I've had in a long number of years.

I quickly forgot about the crouching, and after you get into it a bit I can totally understand why they chose not to include it. There's just simply no time or point for it. You want to be constantly on the move as a marine, preferrably sticking with your pals too ofcourse, and taking a crouching moment would impair the flow of the game immensively. Same thing goes for ironsights. It just wouldn't jive.

I think I've managed to master all three species' control schemes as well. It's fantastic to hear the opposing marine team reflect on my actions as an alien. Hear them talk between themselves (we were all in the same party), and as you pop out from a corner for a quick jab or a kill - you pounce above his friends, grab onto the ceiling and then make a break for it the next corner - it's just something people aren't used to see these days.

I can officially state -- it's super fucking impressive! (with the right people)

Jay and I just finished playing a couple hours together on Xbox Live. I'll share a few quick thoughts. The controls felt awkward at first, they aren't what I've been used to playing lately, but once I started to master the various controls for each species it was a lot of fun. I found the Alien to be the most enjoyable, followed by the Predator, then the Marine. However, I think all will be equally enjoyable in a Team Deathmatch mode since Marines shooting Marines is a little weird...

I might feel different after playing some more but the absence of ironsights for the Marine just feels wrong (too many other next gen shooters I've played, I guess). Maybe it'll grow on me. The Predator controls seem the most complicated at first but start to gel together as you get used to them. As suspected I found it annoying to decloak after every attack. I think I'd prefer a limited energy reserve for the cloak or something so you can pick your spots where to use it. The Alien was, as mentioned, a lot of fun but I kept getting confused as to whether I was on the ceiling or the floor. Plus the RT transition didn't always seem to work when I should have.

Jay and I also get dropped by the server a couple of times which was annoying but I'm sure will be addressed by the full retail version. Also seemed weird that the playing group changed with every map change. Strange the lobby didn't stay the same round to round...

All-in-all great fun. I look forward to playing more this weekend.

Oh, and thanks for the game Jay! Great to put a voice to the... avatar? Ha!

Not having a demo for the campaign is complete and utter fucking bullshit. Here I sit. Here I Goddamn sit. Waiting to join a fucking game, for the past 10 minutes...unable to even play the bolloxing thing to get fucking acclimated to the controls. Son of a bitch. This is re-Goddman-diculous.
