Aliens vs. Predator demo released!

After repeated attempts to join a game, and PSN not being able to find any to connect me too, I've given up.  I'll wait until the 16th, pick up my pre-ordered copy, and play it then.  I've tried 5 or 6 times and waited about 10-15 minutes each time... and bupkis.

Besides, I'd much rather start playing the campaign and then jump into multi-player after I get a feel for her.

I've still had a hard time on Xbox Live connecting as well. If I do connect there are usually only 1 or 2 other players in the game. Frustrating to be sure.

Played for the first time today with Nel as Marine and an Alien. Took me a bit to get used to the alien controls and I have not mastered the pounce attack, but it was very fun.

I'm better with the marine...all that COD and L4D playing makes it a bit easier. Really looking forward to seeing what the single player missions are like.

Same here. It was pure nightmare connecting last night.

I was able to connect in 10 or 20 minutes tonight, then ArmlessMan came on and we played for a while one-on-one until I had to go to do some wheeling and dealing.

Been playing the demo a few times a day, usually. My thoughts...

The instant kill thing is kind of a pain. Especially when you do it to somebody, and then somebody does it to you before you can even move an inch. Happened to me like three times today. I kill a Marine, then a Predator kills me.

I wish there was a way to turn off people with mics. Stupid hicks and annoying children, hearing their retarded quips and bullshit boils my blood.

Crawling on the walls as an alien takes a LOT getting used to. I am still not really able to do it. Also, the 'transition' control is buggy as fuck. It hardly ever works, getting the prompt to come up is a huge pain. For some reason you can't just do it whenever, only when it gives you the option. It sucks. FIX IT!

Not a fan of the Predator. Not in deathmatch, at least. Maybe the campaign will be funner.

The Smart Gun seems to suck dick. It seems to do less damage than the Pulse Rifle, which I think is bullshit (I didn't kill ONE person with it). The sound effect also doesn't sound right at all. The shotgun doesn't seem to do enough damage in close quarters.

I hereby second Hicks' statements about wanting ironsights. Many a time I found myself having an enemy in my sights from an elevated position, with a LOT of distance between us, and wishing I could do something to more accurately fire at them instead of wildly spraying spraying bullets like a bad movie thug.

Is there any way to play as a facehugger in the actual game? That would be a cool little addition to the alien, some kind of 'swithc to facehugger' thing that would earn extra points or something. The Jaguar AVP game had a cool thing where you could cocoon marines and that was the alien's version of a checkpoint. If you died, you'd come back in the area where you cocooned a marine.

I'm glad there's not playable facehugger or burtser this time around - I actually found that aspect of AVP2 really annoying.  But I agree with Becks - the Jaguar AVP's cocooning was a nice touch and a unique way of setting up check points.  I miss that.

Still only playing the demo, but are fucking retards with mics as prominent in the actual game? I just put up with a couple of jackasses for 10 minutes, then left a game before it began with a bunch of screaming assholes, then did the same thing when an infantile moron was shouting in the lobby of another match. Can't even play a simple game without having to put up with this bullshit. Got pissed off and turned the PS3 off unfulfilled.

This, coupled with the fact that I am rubbish at video games (and the sometimes unbearable embarrassment that comes with being habitually destroyed by Godsdamned zygotes on a regular basis) are why I have in the past outright refused to participate in online gaming, and why I got out of video games in the first place.
