Sin City/Iron Man 2 composer John Debney to Score Predators
« on: February 26, 2010, 08:10:05 PM »

Regular Robert Rodriguez collaborator John Debney will score the upcoming Predators.

John Debney has been chosen to score the upcoming action horror movie Predators. The movie is directed by Nimrod Antal (Vacancy, Armored) and stars Topher Grace, Adrien Brody and Laurence Fishburne. Debney previously worked with writer and producer Robert Rodriguez on Sin City, the first two Spy Kids movies and The Adventures of Shark-Boy and Lava-Girl. The movie is set to open this July and follows Iron Man 2 as another high profile summer movie for the busy composer. The announcement ends speculation that Alan Silvestri might return to the franchise, as the movie is a direct sequel to the orginal Predator movie that Silvestri has scored in 1987.

Mark me down as excited. Lair and Cutthroat Island are two of the best big orchestral scores out there. Predators should be good.

Crappy script.
Girly man cast.
Director of crappy films.
No Silvestri.

My soul ain't dancing.

EDIT: And before anyone calls me out, yes I am fully aware I will be spending my money to see this opening weekend and then purchasing the DVD or Blu Ray.

Have you seen Kontroll?

No Silvestri.
Yeah but Silvestri's score all sound exactly the same. Time for something new, yeah?

Have you seen Kontroll?

1 out of 3 ain't a bad record at all.  Neutral

So? The Predator score is iconic. You can make the arguement Brad Fiedel wasn't all that great, but he's the only man who got Terminator right.

FYI, I am fully prepared to eat my words if I end up loving Predators. I really am.

I doubt you will love it, most people decide if they will love a movie before they even go and see it.

I have decided I will love it, so I will end up loving it. Thats how it works, unfortunately.

I've been wrong before. I thought I was going to love AvP1 and hate Alien 3.

In fact now that you've made that statement, I'm going to force myself to love it just to stick it to you!  Mr Green returns

There is a difference between hating a movie, and being wholly disappointed by a movie. You can enjoy a movie that let you down. It's how I feel about Rez. When I watch it, I like it...but at the same time, don't.

I just want to know when we'll get our first PREVIEW?? It's only 5 months away now? I was seeing Shutter Island previews last summer. I just hope they have a good marketing campaign. I think the cast is......interesting.

I'm ready for dissappointment, but am waiting until I see it to feel one way or another. I liked Vacancy and Armored. Smiley

Agreed with everything you've said.

I thought Vacancy was a really great film, scared the hell out of me! Haven't seen the other two though.

I just want to see a preview already as well, we're not getting the full affect by just looking at a few 'behind the scenes' pictures and a draft of the script that could have been changed before and during the production of the film.
