Aliens: Colonial Marines New Look and Contest
Posted February 01, 2010, 10:37:12 PM by Hicks
Fellow fansite Aliens: Colonial Marines has recently got a facelift and is also running a contest tie-in for the pending release of the new Aliens vs. Predator game:

In preparation for when Aliens: Colonial Marines reaches us, I have created a Steam Group: AliensColonialMarines (ACM). Please join the group and I'm sure we'll be able to hook up some time for some co-op action (or deathmatch!). AvP is due to be released on Steam shortly, so we'll be able to play some of that cool stuff too.

To celebrate the news of our relaunch. I'm going to be running a little contest. Starting on Monday 1 February and running until Sunday 28 February, we're going to hold a referral contest. Details of the contest can be found elsewhere, but the prize has already been decided.

We'll be gifting the winner of the referral contest a copy of Aliens vs Predator 3 on PC (via Steam):

There will be certain rules to follow. Look in on the competition thread elsewhere for more details.

I hope you all enjoy the new look Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Win a copy of the game? Sounds good to me! Thanks to Mother for the heads up.

Box Office Mojo Previews Predators
Posted February 01, 2010, 03:05:32 PM by Izzet
Predators has targeted a high profile slot on the summer schedule despite a less-than-blockbuster history. The original Predator opened back in June 1987 and grossed $59.7 million, or the equivalent of around $115 million adjusted for ticket price inflation. In 1990, Predator 2 did about half the business, and then the franchise was resurrected in 2004 along with Alien in Alien Vs. Predator. That picture had a splashy $38.3 million debut but quickly fizzled, winding up with $80.3 million (or less than $100 million adjusted). Again, its sequel, Aliens Vs. Predator - Requiem, did about half the business. There's a good reason that Aliens had top billing in the Vs. movies: it was a bigger franchise.

When Predators was announced, it was described as a reimagining by Robert Rodriguez (Sin City), and his name was even part of the title for a while. What's more, the cast that includes Adrien Brody, Topher Grace and Laurence Fishburne is higher profile than the Vs. movies. The name talent, though, is not likely to make a lick of difference. The movie's potential will rest on the premise, the execution and the marketing. Unfortunately, none of that is officially available as of this writing, but it will be an uphill battle for Predators to expand on the fan base. Rumor has it that the movie is set on an alien jungle world where the humans are placed and then hunted by Predators. If that's true, it sounds like more of a fan fantasia than something that will break-out beyond the franchise norm: thus far, the appeal has been in these mysterious aliens hunting on our world and not in revealing the mystery of these aliens. If the characters are strong enough to sustain a location transplant, then maybe Predators can give the franchise a jumpstart.

Posted January 28, 2010, 09:05:29 AM by Sebastian
The marketing for Rebellion's Aliens vs. Predator has really kicked into high gear it seems.
Two more videos have surfaced today, one being an interview with project lead Tim Jones (let's just call him Jonesy) which goes into detail on the different gameplay mechanics they've incorporated into the game and also some more information about the various multiplayer modes and singleplayer missions that are in there.

The other video is a gameplay trailer showcasing a small part of the Predator campaign which looks quite stunning! Click the links below for HD links:

Topher Grace Sighting in Austin
Posted January 26, 2010, 11:45:30 PM by Hicks
Austin 360 is reporting Topher Grace was hanging out in the Texas state capital, spotted at a local comic book store over the weekend, taking time out from Predators filming:

Topher Grace in town for 'Predators'

Actor Topher Grace was spotted with his posse over the weekend at Austin Books & Comics. Why Grace, why Austin, why now?

Cuz he’s making “Predators,” the Robert Rodriguez-produced reboot of the sci-fi-thriller “Predator,” parts of which were shot in Bastrop and at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios. (The rest was done in Hawaii.)

See who co-stars with Grace (“That ’70s Show,” “Spider-Man 3”) in the film HERE.

Here's hoping his next stop was the local gym.

Stories of aliens and predators are popular among the sci-fi crowd. If you enjoy science fiction movies and publications, you probably also enjoy Halloween. This year there are more Halloween costumes options online than ever before. From Star Wars to Alien predators and everything in between, the selection is amazing.

What is your favourite spacecraft?
